An Academia & Research Pharmacist works within universities, research institutions, or collaborative healthcare settings to advance the science, education, and evidence base of pharmacy practice. They blend teaching, research, and clinical insight to improve medicines use, develop new knowledge, and shape the future of the profession. Their role supports both the training of future pharmacists and the progression of healthcare research.
Key responsibilities include:
Teacheing pharmacy students through lectures, workshops, tutorials, and clinical skills sessions.
Conducts research in areas such as medicines use, clinical outcomes, pharmacology, or healthcare services.
Designs and runs clinical studies, including data collection, analysis, and publication.
Collaborates with hospitals, GP practices, or industry on joint research projects.
Supervises postgraduate students, including Master’s and PhD candidates.
Presents research findings at conferences and professional meetings.
Develops academic curricula and supports improvements in pharmacy education.
